Charlie's favorite place on Maui is Kapalua Bay and Merriman's Kapalua is one of her favorite restaurants. So when her boyfriend, Nico, surprised her with a marriage proposal on Kapalua Bay beach at sunset, she was overjoyed. We kept out of sight and let Nico do his surprise proposal on one knee while we captured it all. These two are such amazing people and wonderful clients to have. Charlie's mom arranged it all since Nico and Charlie work from home and also live in the same place. Nico said there was no way he could manage to hide the surprise Maui beach engagement from Charlie without her help. This made it a bit tricky on our end but we were happy to help. We are absolutely delighted that Charlie was completely surprised and she had one of the best days ever! Congratulations to Charlie & Nico!

The Pondelik family joined us again on Maui for family portraits and this time they wore totally colorful Lily Pulitzer dresses which made my day. The colors looked amazing with the background and also fit the fun, perpetually positive, loving, laughing family to a tee. It's always wonderful to see the little ones growing up and meeting new family members (like their youngest daughter) who were born after our last session. What a joy it is to have such amazing clients who return to us year after year and ask us to capture their joy together in Maui beach portraits during their vacation. What a wonderful way to celebrate family. Welcome back Pondelik family!

Creating an iconic Maui family portrait for the Hale Family

Sometimes you just know when you have made an iconic portrait. This time it was with the Hale Family who stayed in a luxury oceanfront home in Kihei with Private Paradise Villas. The pool at the home served as my mirror and the dusky sunset framed in palm trees was my backdrop. This type of silhouette happens when everything comes together at the right time with the right clients.
Mahalo to the Hale Family for allowing me to make that one last portrait of their family before their children start to go to college.

Maui Senior Portraits with Olivia

We love our Maui senior portrait clients!

Olivia rocked her sunset session in Wailea. She brought several outfits from which we could choose for different backgrounds and had a couple of options for her hair as well. We got a chance to play in the water a bit as well with the waves in the background. Olivia grew up on Maui's North Shore and is in the ocean daily so she is very confident in and on the ocean. Look out law school - here she comes!
