This 2-day hands-on photography workshop takes the basic skills learned in level 1 to the next level! Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer, Aubrey Hord, uses hands-on experience with students and their cameras on the grounds of the college to demonstrate ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, focus, and other camera techniques. This course uses real-life shooting scenarios to help dial in skills, make correct exposures and ensure you are a more successful photographer!

Navigating Your Digital Camera

Oct 23 & 24 (9am-12pm)

Youʻve got a DSLR camera, now what? This hands-on workshop with Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer, Aubrey Hord, covers the basics of how to navigate your cameraʻs settings and how to get started shooting with the manual setting to create the photographs you envision. Students will learn about ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to create the correct exposure along with focus, metering white balance, lens choice, filters, and more.

Composition in Photography: Learning to See

Nov 13 & 14 (9am-12pm)

If you are already familiar with the basics of your camera (film or digital) and feel comfortable shooting in the Manual setting, this hands-on photography workshop with Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer, Aubrey Hord, will help you to “see” more creatively. We will discuss composition concepts, including the Use of Color, Leading the Eye, creating Neutral Space, Rule of Thirds and the Golden Mean. Students also have time to head out onto the grounds of the college to practice skills, explore their camera settings, and experiment creating.

Course Description - Photography for Artists

The goal of this class is to learn how to light and photograph your artwork with more accurate lighting to improve your online sales and promotion.  You can photograph your creations using tools like simple lighting techniques, a neutral backdrop and a stable tripod. At the completion of this class you will have the ability and confidence to improve your photographs or your artwork. PPA Certified Professional Photographer Aubrey Hord will demonstrate lighting techniques and tips that have helped painters, jewelers, sculptors, Etsy, Instagram, Ebay artists, and others seeking to improve their work. This is a hands-on class, so feel free to bring small items to practice photographing.
