Composition in Photography: Learning to See

Nov 13 & 14 (9am-12pm)

If you are already familiar with the basics of your camera (film or digital) and feel comfortable shooting in the Manual setting, this hands-on photography workshop with Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer, Aubrey Hord, will help you to “see” more creatively. We will discuss composition concepts, including the Use of Color, Leading the Eye, creating Neutral Space, Rule of Thirds and the Golden Mean. Students also have time to head out onto the grounds of the college to practice skills, explore their camera settings, and experiment creating.

Adobe Lightroom Workflow - Professional Photographers of America at Aubrey Hord Photography

Workshop Description: You have a ton of photographs that you have taken with your digital camera. Now what? How do you edit and post them on your website or social media? This course is geared for photographers who want to begin developing their images using editing software. PPA Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer, Aubrey Hord, uses Adobe Lightroom to demonstrate basic Workflow including importing, navigating Lightroom Modes (with primary focus on Library and Develop modes), culling, color correction, cropping, spot removal, exporting for print and social media, copyright and watermarking your photographs. This is a perfect way to get started in Adobe Lightroom and learn tips and tricks for a faster workflow.

Course Items: Please bring laptop, mouse or wacom tablet, power cords, external hard drive with 3-5 RAW files and note- taking materials, money for lunch.

Course Description: This fun hands-on photography workshop takes the basic skills to the next level! Photographic Craftsman and Certified Professional Photographer Aubrey Hord will use hands-on experience with students and their cameras to demonstrate ISO, aperture, shutter speed, exposure, white balance, focus, and other camera techniques. This course uses real-life shooting scenarios to help dial in skills, make correct exposures and ensure you are a more successful photographer! As an added bonus, this class takes place on the beautiful grounds of the Hui. Prerequisite: General working knowledge of your camera and its basic functions.

Course Description: The goal of this class is to learn how to light and photograph your artwork with more accurate lighting to improve your online sales and promotion.  You can photograph your creations using tools like simple lighting techniques, a neutral backdrop and a stable tripod. At the completion of this class you will have the ability and confidence to improve your photographs or your artwork. PPA Certified Professional Photographer Aubrey Hord will demonstrate lighting techniques and tips that have helped painters, jewelers, sculptors, Etsy, Instagram, Ebay artists, and others seeking to improve their work.
