Flashpoint Lighting Portraits with Olivia

We are so exciting to be working with a new Flashpoint lighting system for our clients. We have a lot more options for lighting and can accommodate more requests for complex lighting situations in sessions for our studio clients and commercial clients.

I asked our senior portrait client, Olivia, to help me yesterday to do a test of the lights. We were granted permission to photograph on private property at the Hui No'eau Visual Arts Center where I am a Teaching Artist as well as from the Friends of Old Maui High School. This allowed us a couple of different light situations and backgrounds to be able to test the limits of the lights. Needless to say, I am delighted with the new lighting system and look forward to sharing our new system with our clients!

SENIOR PORTRAITS ON MAUI WITH HALEY

A Day for Haley

Haley's dream for her senior portraits on Maui was to have them reflect her bohemian style and her quirky/cool/laid back personality. Growing up in upcountry Maui she wanted something different than beach portraits. She wanted to have more architecture in her portraits (which is challenging to find on Maui), a view of the west Maui mountains if possible and funky backgrounds like graffiti. Haley is a also dancer and wanted a few photographs of her in dance mode. We put all of Haley's dreams into the careful planning and creation of her portrait session. As a full service photography studio, this is what we love to do for our clients.

Our hair and makeup artist from our Studio Glam Squad, Oona Mariano, did her hair and makeup for her session and got her camera ready. Oona did a light luminous look for Haley's makeup to reflect Haley's style and she created "space/moon buns" in her hair along with some additional braids throughout her session as she changed outfits.  Haley was a good sport even with the passing rain showers on the North Shore. Nice work Haley! Congratulations on your senior year!

NOTE: We requested and were granted permission from the Friends of Old Maui High School as well as from Alexander & Baldwin to access private property for her senior portrait session.
